life before me

like a whisp of smoke
scented with sage
beautiful, gone in an instant
dispersing your beauty
long after you are gone
twisting easily away from my grasp...
"just let me go...
it will be easier that way,"
you say. but i can't
just accept your...
your gone-ness.
i'll hold my breath as long as i can,
and i'll remember the scent of that smoke
as long as i live. |
