» Poem: Darkness Has Wings
Darkness Has Wings
written by Mars_Phoenix

I hold her,
Maybe she was a great angel once,
Wasted all her youth on a boy like me,
And now she glitters like darkness has wings.

No one else could taste what i've had on my tongue,
Acidic nightmares of the most profound,
Blood and tears corrode the ground.

I wear her name,
I wear it well.
Tattooed on my soul,
Its hers to own I know.

It haunts my still, that sound.
The sound of a car in the driveway,
Or the swinging door.
Sometimes i'd fall to the floor,
And say;
Why? Why?
Why did you have to run away?
What dark night in what hallowed place?
I'd give my life to but gaze on your face.

The day she went,
I cried, I kicked, I called her back.
She walked through me,
Like I was a shadow on her back.

And the sound of the door,
Oh so cold and sharp,
Metal hinges screetching cry,
Please God why did you let her die?
